Get Serious About Your Blog: Start Boosting Your Blog Ranking

How To Improve Your Blog Ranking And SEO

Millions of people start their own blog. Some do it for fun, and others for business. You might be combining the two purposes, running your blog for pleasure but hoping to make some money from it too. Whatever your reason, you more than likely want people to read your blog.

If it’s just a fun hobby, perhaps you’re not too worried about how many people see it. However, most bloggers will want to try and boost their audience. Knowing how to do this doesn’t necessarily come naturally. If you want to improve the ranking of your blog, you need to have some smart tricks up your sleeve.

Use Keywords Naturally

A lot of people who start blogging for fun don’t begin with thinking about keywords. They just want to write about the things they enjoy and share it with their friends. Perhaps they might naturally end up using various keywords without trying.

However, if you want to improve the rank of your blog, you should give keywords more thought. Your first step should be to research the words you want to target. Once you’ve done that, you need to incorporate them into your blog posts naturally. They shouldn’t seem stuffed in, overabundant or completely out of place.

Build Links

Link building is an excellent way to improve the rank of your blog. Having quality websites link to your site will help to boost its reputation. It’s also a good idea to think about how you link out from your website. If you want to understand more about link building, it’s a good idea to read about Google’s latest Penguin 4.0 update

For someone who isn’t too familiar with SEO, it can seem confusing. However, there are plenty of resources that will help to put it into  language that is easier to understand. There are a number of things you can do to build links, including guest blogging.

Engage with Other Blogs

Isolating yourself from other bloggers won’t do much to help your blog’s ranking. There is a community of bloggers similar to you, and you can all help each other out. One of the popular methods that people use is to comment on other blogs.

By doing this, you can build links back to your blog and get exposure for yourself. Many blog platforms will display the last thing you posted underneath comments you leave. However, when you choose blogs to comment on, don’t just select at random. They should be relevant to your niche.

Get Active on Social Media

Shares on social media can also help your blog. However, you don’t want these shares to come from just anywhere. They should occur on accounts that have good reputations.

The more you’re shared on social networks, the higher the chance that some important people are going to share your blog and your blog ranking will improve.

If you want people on social media channels to engage with your blog, it’s a good idea for you to be on social media too. You should also integrate sharing features with your blog.

That whole ‘blogging without thinking about keywords’ is why almost all of my search traffic (until very, very recently – like within the last month or so) has come from people Googling “what happened in April 2016.” I have no idea what kind of answer they’re looking for, but Google seems to think one of my blog posts is extra-super relevant to it.

[…] We all have our own set of bloggers whose blogs we follow religiously. Why not share these with your followers? If they blog about the same things that you do, then I’m sure your audience will love to hear about them. And the best thing about this is that these bloggers may pay back the favor and tell all of their followers about your blog! […]
