Summer is Here!


Summer has always been my favorite time of the year. I love the sun and the beach. Everything is just happier in the summer I think. Summer and the sun especially can cause havoc to your hair and your skin. How we care for these things does change in the summer and most of the time we put up with certain things but we don’t have to. There are simple tricks to keep your hair and skin looking great.


We put stress on our hair every day but the summer has its own set of problems. Saltwater, the sun, and Chlorine cause a lot of damage. Chlorine strips your hair of its natural oils and pertaining to blondes, it can turn your hair green. That is mostly due to Copper Molecules. Here is a natural recipe to try:


One-Quarter cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
Two cups of water
Comb thru and rinse


Experts say your hair grows more in the summer and suggest you get a trim. Wash less! This is something I always suggest. Your hair styles better with a little built up natural oil. Personally, I only was my hair three times a week.

Take a break from Heat styling. The sun dries your hair and blow-dryers and flat irons just make it worse.
If you’re going swimming, whether at the pool or the beach add a little protection by drenching those locks with a leave-in conditioner.

If you color your hair, you want to cover your hair if you can and avoid bright hair color because the sun fades colored hair dramatically
Dermatologists say it is a fact that the sun literally bakes your hair shaft so run a little sunscreen through it for more protection and loose styles like a messy bun mask a lot of your hair from the sun.

One tsp Sea Salt
One tsp Coconut Oil


Of course, you should limit your time in the sun but I can’t lie I love nothing more than a day one the beach. Sunscreen is soo necessary. One area many don’t pay attention to when applying t their face is the upper lip. The sun can cause discoloration there. 
I am sure you have heard about the toxins in sunscreen so I found an easy to make recipe from Dr. Axe


10 drops of Lavender Oil
1 tbsp Pomegranate Oil
Three-Fourths cup of Coconut Oil
2 tbsp Zinc Oxide
2tbsp Shea Butter
Glass Jar
Combine all ingredients except the Zinc Oxide in the glass jar. Place in a saucepan, with 2 inches of water. Stir until melted. Add in Zinc and stir.



Sweating clogs your pores which cause those irritating breakouts. Keeping a spray bottle with purified water is always a great idea.
Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize
You can never moisturize enough and most of us aren’t wearing much makeup in the summer. Invest in a tinted moisturizer if you need a dash of color. I am not really for the self-tanner, in my opinion, it makes you look orange. I really love Coconut Oil as a daily moisturizer.
Exfoliate Once A Week
It is really essential to get the dead skin off your whole body, especially in summer to avoid peeling. I have a natural concoction I love:


Brown sugar
Olive Oil
Essential Oil
The amounts really depend on how much you want. A few drops of Essential Oil for fragrance.
