how-tolook-fabatany-ageBeauty Tips At Any Age

When I planned this post the original thought was “Makeup after 40”. Then I started thinking about how these same Beauty Tips would really suit women of any age. Looking good doesn’t have a number ladies. We are obsessed with looking young and will go to any length to achieve that.

For me, it has always been about looking the very best I can, which has nothing to do with age. I will share with you some Beauty Secrets I have known forever and some I’ve learned recently.

Facial Massage

I read an article once about how Facial Massage and exercises utilizing your face muscles could take ten years off your life. Yeah, I rolled my eyes, until I tried it. It really does work. Not only that , it feels good! This is something I do every day now especially because as you get older, the first place you will see it is in the neck.

Natural Skincare

Taking care of your skin is essential. When I was in my twenties I often went to bed with makeup on. This is the biggest mistake you can make, you are suffocating your skin basically.

About ten years ago I stopped using the skincare products you see in the store. I had this brilliant idea to make my own cosmetics, (another get rich scheme that failed) but what I learned is how much money we are wasting. I started making my own skin care products from natural items right in my kitchen.

Coconut Oil

Probably the best beauty product there is. It is natural and good for you in so many ways. I use it to take off makeup and as a moisturizer for my skin and hair. In just a few weeks it reduces those lines too.

Embrace The Skin You’re In

Above is my progression. People tell me I look younger and I suppose that’s true. I have embraced my age (48) and the signs that have come with it. I earned every droop and wrinkle I have through a life well-lived.

One beauty secret, maybe the most important one, is being happy. Life is hard and long but I made a decision a long time ago that no matter what it threw at me, I was going to be happy and it really is that simple.

On to the Makeup

I love makeup, I would show you the huge box of goodies I have ,but we would both just be embarrassed at my obsession. That being said I don’t buy top brands. I personally believe you are paying for the name. I have been using Elf for a while and I really love that brand it’s cheap and the quality is good and no they aren’t paying me.

Just recently I have totally changed the make-up I use and how I apply it. Here are my must- haves

beauty

  • Coconut Oil
  • BB Cream
  • Illuminating Primer
  • Matte Shadow
  • Liquid Eyeliner Markers
  • Concealer
  • Eyelash Curler

Primer is excellent for hiding all those imperfections and the Illuminating Primer adds a great glow because as you get older skin can dull. Matte shadow is amazing, the finish is so smooth whereas sparkly shadow can make any eyelid look wrinkly. You can always add shimmer to your lashline and outer eyes for added accent.

I have always had hooded eyes but as you get older most women do. There is a specific way to shadow your eyes to make them look bigger.

  • Dust the tear duct with light shadow (white or pink)
  • Create a crease with dark shadow and draw attention to the outer eye
  • Only line the top lid
  • Curl those eyelashes

BB Cream is amazing. I don’t like foundation because it seems to be so heavy and brings more attention to the lines. I don’t know about you but it is so hard for me to find a color match as well. BB Cream is light and even improves the quality of your skin in some cases.

Below is a video from fellow Blogger/Vlogger Marsha. She runs a blog where she reviews beauty products that are affordable which I love because it takes the guesswork out of products we might be interested in or not know about. You can find her at SassyCritic

I hope you enjoyed these tips and remember we are all our own kind of beautiful!
