Starting Over Is Never Easy

Do you ever feel as though your life is simply passing you by, and there is nothing you can do to stop it? The modern society we live in is so fast-paced, this can be a real problem for many women. We hold such high expectations for ourselves and for others, meaning that if our lives don’t go the way we originally planned, we tend to panic. Or, even worse, we give up and retreat into ourselves.

Neither is ideal, but being in a state of ‘life-limbo’ can be exceptionally harmful towards your health and well-being. You may have lost your job or you may have recently come out of a long-term relationship – both things that can leave you feeling lost and without a plan. But, you can get your life back on track with a few simple steps. If you’re ready to take action, continue reading and find out how you can reclaim your life.

Starting Over Smart

Stop setting unachievable goals

If you have been made redundant, and you set a goal to have your own business up and running within six months – forget it. Getting back on the horse doesn’t have a set time constraint. Many people use a negative experience such as redundancy to kick-start their motivation, which is a good thing. But, be mindful of the types of goals you are setting. If you set your expectations too high, you will only be disappointed when the don’t prove fruitful. Aim lower and then build yourself up. You will see far greater self-development this way, too.

Learn To Live in The Present

Okay, so things didn’t work out with your boyfriend, your promotion, your new house – but stop worrying about the effect that’s going to have on your future! It is pretty much impossible to predict what we’ll be doing or where we’ll be in a year’s time. So, take every day one at a time and let yourself be open to new opportunities. If you find yourself constantly living in the past or worrying about the future, consider practicing the art of mindfulness.

This is a form of meditation which has its roots in Buddhism, as is used all over the world by people who want to make the present moment count. Or, if you would rather talk to someone, visit a service such as Grow Counseling, where experts will be able to help you work out what’s holding you back.

Your Bucket List

If you’re feeling a bit stuck in a rut with your life at the moment, the best thing to do is completely change things up. Take up a sport you haven’t played since school and start competing again. Or, book flights for a round-the-world trip of a lifetime.

Whatever you need to do to feed your sense of adventure! Often, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone gives you some great inspiration for what it is you need to do to escape your ‘life slump’. Go ahead and see the world – it might be the best thing you ever do.
